Hello!
The Chakra Monster
aka
Chrissi Boryk
I was affectionately christened The Chakra Monster by my cousin, Lizzie. It’s a playful and accurate way to describe my relationship with reiki, meditation and kundalini yoga.
Vibrational healing modalities seriously work. And my belief is that to receive all of their benefits, you do not have to be serious. Or solemn or emotionally subdued. In fact, they work best with a light heart, a curious mind and the ability to just let go and surrender to the experience.
Experiencing the benefit and the blending of all of these has been a journey in and of itself over the last 10 years. For me, it accelerated when I I fell off my bike in 2018 and fractured my collarbone, scapula and a few ribs. As you can imagine, with my physical stress release practice on hold for a few months, I needed to find an alternative way to relax and unwind. Additionally, I do not take any type of medication (yes, including ibuprofen or Tylenol for headaches - it drives my mother nuts!) instead, I practice holistic modalities to soothe my nervous system and balance my energy.
And so here we are……
My certifications include:
Usui/Holy Fire 3 Reiki Master
IKYTA Kundalini Yoga Teacher - Level 1
Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC)
A little more about me:
I’m a replanted New Yorker (born and raised) who dropped into LA, after several visits in the decade prior, in December 2019. Yup. That happened.
So I know what it’s like to reivent yourself under stressful and uncertain times and the need to adopt a “faith over fear” mindset. Infusing it with a strong pinch of spirituality helped too.
Born and raised a New Yorker, I do have a bit of an edge and a realism that might not be for everyone.
Additionally, I’m a semi retired amatuer endurance athlete and have completed several marathons, triathlons and century bike rides. Hence, adding more background to the story above. My belief that “food is fuel” transitioned to “food is medicine” as my activity level and diet began to align more closely with the changing needs of my body.
And finally, I’m a passionate amateur astrologer. I do read my horoscope everyday and live for synchronicities. So for all of you who subscribe to “as above, so below,” I was born on a Monday under a Libra New Moon with Cancer on the ascedant. Now it all makes sense, right? ;)
