Reiki and its benefits
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki is two words: “rei” meaning Higher Power and “Ki,” “life force energy.” Together they mean “unseen spiritually guided life force power.” This is similar to “Chi” in Chinese medicine, “Prana” in Indian culture and “bio-field energy” in the scientific community. We are alive because this life force is flowing through us. Reiki is already alive and present within you; you do not receive it in a session.
Reiki is safe, gentle and non-intrusive. It is administered by a light touch of the hands in certain positions on the front and back of the body. This helps the energy to move more easilty through the body and provide healing where it is needed.
As Reiki is guided by a Higher Power, it is a positive force and can never cause harm. This is one reason why it is becoming an accepted presence in hospitals and clinics today; the healing approach is non-traumatic and easily partners with conventional therapies.
How can Reiki help you?
Reiki offers an opportunity to have a soothing and passive full body relaxation experience.
By providing a light touch on or over the body, reiki will move to where the body has low energy and will help to break up negative emotions, feelings and/or blocks to increase the flow and vibration of positive energy.
It will go where it needs to flow.
After one session, people feel lighter, more peaceful and generally just more relaxed
Additional benefits are:
less stress
deeper sleep and/or falling asleep faster
reduction in pain from injuries and/or chronic bodissues
reduces inflammation
increases energy
promotes creativity
better ability to manage challenging situations
increased confidence
Who can receive Reiki?
Anyone can receive Reiki! It is a benevolent energy and good for all. All that is needed is an open mind and heart for the experience.
Reiki is also good for animals of any kind; large and small house pets, horses, birds and even reptiles.
What happens during a Reiki session?
Practioners will generally create a calm, serene environment so the client can feel at ease before they begin their session. This many include aromatherapy, downbeat music and low lighting. Some practioners may begin with breathwork or a meditation to help facilitate a clearing of the mind and coming into the present moment.
Clients will then lie on massage table fully clothed. Blankets and pillows are generally available to make the client as comfortable as possible. The practioner will gently place their hands on the head, shoulders, abdomen, legs, feet and back inviting the reiki energy to move throughout the body.
