A Spring Fling with your Inner Kid
It’s a time of renewal, rebirth and reconnection with your Inner Kid!
The Equinox is Thursday, March 20th. Let’s shake off that winter hibernation (which is probably much easier with the recent time change) and start to plan some fun!
Keeping with the “Stop Treading and Start Shedding” theme, how about wriggling out of a layer or two of that thick, rough skin of adulting?
Let’s begin by acknowledging YOU! You are doing an amazing job of all The Things! Congratulate yourself for all of the achievements, small & daily and large & liife impacting, your adult self has and does accomplish. You work hard, take your professional responsibilities seriously and offer your time, energy, support and love to your family and friends. And then maybe you take some time for yourself, in particularly nourishing that incredibly spontaneous, creative 7 year old version of you.
How do you like to relax? What fills your well? Perhaps you’re stuck in a “fun rut” and only do the same 2-3 activities and it feels more like a “to-do”? Or maybe it’s been awhile since you’ve been able to reconnect with Inner Kid.
Well, here’s a quick and merry little exercise that I did recently which helped to revive a few items and reprioritize those which I’ve had on the shelf for a little too long.
Twenty Things I Like to Do
List out 20 things you like to do. Do this in a vertical list on the left side of a piece of paper. Don’t worry about the order, it doesn’t have any meaning. And don’t worry I know you can get to 20.
Horizontally across the top of the page, create columns for the items below. And then fill in each column for each of your 20 things.
How long since last done?
Cost money or free?
Alone or with someone?
Planned or spontaneous?
Job related?
Physical risk?
Fast or slow paced?
Mind, body or spiritual?
Once you’re done, review your list. What are you most excited to do? What haven’t you done in a long time? Is there a pattern or a theme? How many align with any goals or intentions you’ve set for 2025?
What are you and your Kid going to do this Spring/Summer?
Blessings
