Protect Your He(art)

Familiar with the sidewalk chalk meme "Protect your he(art)" ?

My guess is that it's probably made it around the world at this point. I feel like my first sighting was back around 2016 as I was hoofing it around NYC and shooting my #streettogs for my IG account.

It definitely struck a chord at that time and I thought it was a "clever reminder."

And now as I've started to publish my creativity in a less anonymous channel, this weekly e-mail, teaching in person etc. and begin to dip my toe into new ones (stay tuned), I'm experiencing the deeper paradox of this helpful hint.

Your art, whatever it is, is a most personal offering of yourself to the external world. Undeniably unique as no one else can do what you do. It comes from the depths of your heart, your imagination and your efforts.

Creative expression and output is a form of communication and connection to yourself, others and an effort to invite community.

It's natural to want to protect it, right? There's always the possibility that someone or many won't like it, understand it or even be curious. And their words and/or actions might be less than kind or compassionate and leave us wounded, maybe deeply wounded with a ton of regret.

So what's the alternative? To keep it to ourselves until we're "ready?" Are we ever really ready to do anything?

Or until the conditions are perfect? Much more to come on that ;)

Or suppress our authentic, individual and gifts so efficiently that they slowly shrink until they're just lifeless, dry and unrecognizable?

And just by engaging in even a small amount of the above, we deny ourselves of unknown opportunities, relationships, communities, happiness, joy and more creativity.

This year the Universe is not only showing us but also pushing us to undergo major overhauls of our old patterns. Today, Pluto goes direct in Aquarius pretty much kicking us in the a$$ to live more authentically. And in these last 18 months all the outer planets have changed signs. They're all in either Fire or Air so the combination creates the Phoenix, a new  more graceful creature, stronger, more beautiful and more courageous than the old bird.

It's all about surrendering to the fire of transformation - as above, so below.

Maybe the best way to protect your he(art) is to harness all that courage you can and just put it out there and see what happens.....

And I'll go first...I am SO EXCITED to share my first podcast with you! My beautiful and gifted friend Meredith Jayme started All of the Above a few months ago. She was called to start using her voice to share her experiences and thoughts on her spiritual and energetic journey. If you're having a day where you could use some inspiration or grounding, tune in for one of her 20 minute offerings. She'll get you on track!

Our conversation was so much fun! We covered a lot of ground - spiritual experiences, kundalini, reiki - so there's something for everyone. Enjoy and if something speaks to you, please drop it in the comments section.
